Just as Jewish prayers ask that that the Jewish community be mindful of the people in the State of Israel, the author argues that the Jewish community must continue to be mindful of the challenges and opportunities it faces in trying to strengthen and bind the relationship between the People of Israel and the State of Israel. The author discusses two critical questions that arise out of this mindfulness: how do we engage the State of Israel in a way that strengthens the spiritual and cultural aspirations of the People? And how do we do so amidst still trying to understand the concept of Jewish peoplehood? In addition, he uses Foucault to examine the concept of the State of Israel beyond a sovereign and structured political body. [Taken from BJPA.org]
